Aside from the individual projects that each college undertook as part of the CCF programme, the project also contained a cross Cumbria element that involved all five colleges working collaboratively on a quality assurance and improvement policy that each college will now adopt as part of their ongoing work.

The new observation policy devised and trialled as part of the CCF set out a new way of working that was; relevant, engaging, sustainable, and innovative.

The key ideas of the process were that it involved:

  1. The teacher development plan is the core of the process
  2. Results in the development of practice and sharing ideas across the College
  3. Professional discussion takes place with the observer prior to the observation
  4. Negotiated agreement on which session to observe
