Aims & Objectives

To develop confidence and competence of teaching staff to deliver excellent learning through technology.

  • Identify lead practitioners and areas of good practice within the use of technology
  • To empower staff to work collaboratively to improve their skills and confidence with the use of technology
  • To develop peer observations and peer support systems for staff using technology to enhance learning

Why did we do this?

Due to the situation, we have found ourselves in over the past year, remote teaching and learning have become a focus of the college. Staff have found themselves in a situation like no other. In order to ensure that learners were receiving good quality remote teaching and learning and have the best possible experience as a college, we made this a priority.

How did we do this?

We recruited 3 Tech Buddies who are now supporting staff in a variety of ways throughout the college. These methods include 1-1 support, small group work, enhancing the support already provided through the TLI system focusing on remote teaching., We carried out supportive remote learning walks to identify any staff members who required support. In addition to this, we also encouraged staff to self-identify any CPD and support they required.

How is this working?

The introduction of the Tech buddies has had a positive impact on remote teaching and learning. This is evident through the results of the most recent learning walks and ETLA activity. We have also received positive staff feedback and strong engagement. The priority now is to continue to embed the Tech Buddy support into our ETLA and CPD process.
