Teaching at Kendal College allows me to combine my love of teaching and training adults, with the enjoyment of working with teenagers. Meeting students at whichever point in life they join the college, and seeing them not only achieve their potential, but build their confidence in their abilities, brings great job satisfaction. The thank you cards from students on their own are enough to spur me through the busy times! Teaching in FE truly is a job that changes lives.

My pathway here I spent much of my career as a professional photographer in adventure sports, tourism and editorial work across the UK, Europe, North America and South America. A chance conversation led me to teach part-time at Kendal College, a natural extension of the workshops I was already running. The challenge and reward of teaching soon made it clear that becoming a full-time photography tutor was the right next step as I looked for new goals and horizons.

I love working at Kendal College because of its supportive, welcoming environment and the inspiring backdrop of the Lake District. Moving from Canada in 2022, I felt instantly at home thanks to the community here. It’s rewarding to share my international marketing, design, and illustration experience while helping students develop skills and confidence for the future.
