Course Overview

Learn about the basics of sound recording, mixing and editing on this exciting and practical course based in Kendal College's professional recording studio and Mac suite. You will learn about microphones, mic techniques and using music software whilst also having the chance to record yourself and others.

This Level 1 NCFE Music Technology qualification gives you the basic skills and knowledge to record yourself or others' music. Our professional multitrack recording studio and live room give you a taste of what it is like to work in an industry standard facility. Well equipped with a wide range of instruments, microphones and Mac computers, it is the perfect learning environment for you to gain knowledge and experience in recording and music production. We use PreSonus Studio One Software to hone your mixing and editing skills, as well as preparing you for home recording.

You will be assessed by way of a portfolio of recordings, mixes and tutor interviews and observations over the duration of the course.

Your course tutor Wayne Scurrah is a Cumbria based songwriter, guitarist and teacher who has a wealth of recording experience both with his own musical projects and recording the work of other musicians and also working on Podcasts.
