I would 100% recommend studying at Kendal College. Even if you are unsure about what you want to do as a career. You learn quality lessons at Kendal College and you get to do what you love most. For me, that was Music! All in all, it’s just such a good piece of my life which I can treasure forever.

What was it like being a student at the College?

I studied Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music. Ithoroughly enjoyed being a student at Kendal College. To me, it was always more than just being a student, both the students and tutors were like a family. You could always count on getting help in whatever area help was required, and you were never made to feel like any question was a stupid question. Being a student at Kendal College was so much more than I ever expected. Even when things happened which may have been tricky or outsiders looked down on Kendal College for, the thing that mattered most is how we got over it and continued to run as a strong, learning unit.

What have you been up to since completing your studies?

I attended The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) gaining a first class honours degree in Music, Theatre & Entertainment Management. I have been a freelance Events Manager since 2021.

How did the College prepare you for what you’re doing now?

I was always unsure as to what I would want my future to entail, the only thing I could count on is that I wanted Music to be an element. In my 2nd year at Kendal College we were required to do our Major Music Project (MMP). We organised and performed two gigs in commercial venues. During this task, I naturally stood into the leadership role and ended up being the one to bring it all together. It was during this I realised how much I loved Management and how good I was at it. If it wasn’t for Kendal College I’m unsure I would have ever gotten the chance to explore this. During my studies at LIPA, I really enjoyed networking. There are so many opportunities to meet new people and build up contacts. The people I attended University with were more than likely going to be working with me in the industry one day, and that is the most important thing to remember.

If you could give one piece of advice to people considering College, what would it be?

I went to Kendal College in the headspace that I wanted a break from heavy academic studies, but I still wanted to do something worthwhile rather than just having a gap year and not really doing anything. By doing this, I discovered I did, in fact, want a career in the industry and there are so many more sectors of the industry than you think. Obviously not everyone’s going to be the next Beyoncé, but Beyoncé couldn’t be Beyoncé without the people behind the scenes making it happen!
