Our Pottery Next Steps course is an exciting course aimed at helping you discover a creative direction as a ceramic artist. This advanced course builds on the techniques delivered within our introductory Pottery course helping you develop a specialist portfolio of work.
The course focuses on developing your knowledge of creative process and your ability to initiate and manage self-directed pottery projects with a clear purpose and meaning. With access to our Ceramic Studio and Photography Studio to photograph work, you will develop your technical understanding, refine your visual skills through design sketching and presentation boards, develop your ideas, and analyse and review your work from technical and aesthetic perspectives. The course will be delivered through demonstrations and hands-on practical tasks with tutor support; there will be an emphasis on you leading a student-led, self-motivated project set to an agreed project brief.
During the course you will work toward an NCFE Level 2 Award in Creative Craft, that will be part of two design based projects. This qualification is assessed through coursework, which involves some written elements and note taking. There are no exams. This course will involve regular personal study outside the class, including organising course work for assessment and/or feedback.
There is an additional fee of GBP25, which covers the use of resources and materials. If you are gaining a fee waiver for the course, the course fee will be waived but this workshop fee is still required.
