Course Overview

The AAQ in Engineering focuses on the current demands and trends within the engineering sector. You will also develop knowledge and skills in project management and engineering design as part of this course.

Our experienced team of tutors include a broad range of specialisms to support success on this course. The qualification will allow you to study the principles and applications of engineering including the fundamental mechanical, electrical/electronic and mathematical principles, the engineering sectors, engineering materials, engineering processes and emerging technologies.

This qualification is split into 4 units:
1. Engineering Principles
2. Engineering Applications
3. Engineering Design
4. Engineering Project

Two of the units are assesses externally via examinations and two as assessed internally though an assignment based task. The qualification is equivalent to one A Level.

You will have the option to take part in additional academic and skill development opportunities such as ASPIRE, Core maths, Duke of Edinburgh award in addition to the TWO (minimum) A-Levels, tutorial sessions and study support sessions that make up your full-time programme.

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above, including Maths and English Language.

After Your Course

This qualification can lead to progression to the following degrees:
- Mechanical Engineering BEng
- Civil Engineering BEng
- General Engineering BEng
- Electronic and Electrical Engineering BEng

Students may also progress to HNC or Foundation Degrees in Engineering.

The fee displayed is the course fee. Course fees are per year for full-time courses and per course for part-time courses.

Courses fees

The current full-time & degree-level fee information is related to the 2024/25 academic year.

Level 3-6 Courses

Advanced Learning Loans are available for students aged 19 or over and studying eligible level 3, 4, 5 & 6 courses. If you are on an Access course, the loan will be written off if you complete a degree.

You may qualify for financial support to cover the cost of a Level 3 qualification if you do not already have a Level 3 qualification (this will depend on the course & your age on 31/08/24).

A-Levels

The fees displayed are for the one-year AS-Level course. If you would like to progress onto the full A-Level, please get in touch with us for the cost of the second year, as it will be different.

16-18 year olds

There are no course fees if you were aged 16-18 on 31/08/24 and are not studying at another institution.
