Course Overview

The course starts by teaching and reviewing the basic use and function of the camera. Creative short projects help students to become confident and competent with all their camera's settings and controls.

Later in the course you will be using professional studio lighting for portraits and learning digital post-production skills with Adobe Lightroom. Many photographers with good experience and knowledge benefit from this course and find it reinforces their existing skills.

There are 3 elements to complete, with an initial unit to learn and understand how to use shutter speeds for motion control, apertures to control depth of field and research skills to generate creative ideas. A second unit will enable students to pursue a personal photography project and put their new skills to use and a third unit will enable students to showcase their photography skills and display their work.

You will be use a simple PowerPoint presentation upload, review and receive feedback on all your work, which will involve home-study and practical photography outside of class.

Students are required to complete and meet all the assessment criteria, which will result in a Level 2 Award in (Creative Craft) Photography from NCFE. Your tutors are experienced photographers with a lot of industry and teaching experience. They will guide you through each unit to unsure you stay on-track and receive feedback and advice. Assessment is through on-going coursework and there are no exams.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. You should have an interest in photography and the enthusiasm to learn new skills, as well as some experience of taking photographs.
