Now that we've moved into our new Westmorland Campus, we're making a few changes to how the location of our courses is displayed on the website. While this work is being completed, courses may not show the campus where they are located. Please bear with us while we complete the upgrades, and if you need to know which campus a course is on urgently, don't hesitate to get in touch with our Student Services.

The uniformed protective services help aid and protect the public. The main areas of work are the police, fire & rescue, paramedics, and the armed forces. If you are interested in a career in these areas, responding to emergencies, or progression to degree-level study, then this is for you!

The department works with many different protective services to give students hands-on experience of the work conducted by these vital services. Your course tutor is a serving member of the British Army Reserve with a specialism for physical training. The courses are designed to be mentally and physically demanding in preparation for your chosen career in protective services. You will be given training in how to cope with these pressures. Highlights include trips to London to visit parliament, residentials with the Royal Marines at the Commando Training Centre, working with police dogs, completing assault courses with the Army and competing against other colleges.

Every day will be different, diverse and exciting.

Following this course, you may choose to pursue a career in the Police, Armed Forces, Fire and Rescue, the Prison Service or other uniformed protective services. The Level 3 course can also lead to study at degree-level in areas including (but not limited to): Policing, Emergency Planning, Disaster Management, Sociology, Criminology, and Outdoor Adventure.
