The uniformed services help aid and protect the public. The main areas of work are the police, fire & rescue, paramedics, and the armed forces. If you are interested in a career in these areas, responding to emergencies, or progression to degree-level study, then this is for you!
The department works with many different protective services to give students hands-on experience with the work conducted by these vital services. Your course tutor is a serving member of the British Army Reserve with a specialism in physical training.

The courses are designed to be mentally and physically demanding in preparation for your chosen career in protective services. You will be given training on how to cope with these pressures. Highlights include trips to London to visit parliament, residentials with the Royal Marines at the commando training centre, working with police dogs, completing assault courses with the army and competing against other colleges.
Every day will be different, diverse and exciting.
Following this course, you may pursue a career in the police, armed forces, fire and rescue, prison service or other uniformed protective services. The Level 3 course can also lead to study at degree level in areas including (but not limited to) policing, emergency planning, disaster management, sociology, criminology, and outdoor adventure.

This course provides an ideal route into 'Uniformed Protective Services'. You will study of a wide range of public service operations and opportunities in depth; to prepare for employment or higher level study. Learning will include: teamwork and leadership in public services, outdoor adventure and sports experiences, extensive contact with public service providers, and relevant practical assignments and projects. Your programme of study will also include skills and preparation for employment, volunteering, English and Maths.
