It is clear that the UK’s health and social care system is struggling, and with an increasingly ageing population, there is a significant demand for more people to enter the industry. In fact, around two million new workers will need to be trained and recruited by 2022.

Yes, there are current pressures in the industry, but health & social care remains one of the most humbling and rewarding sectors. Courses open up a wide and varied range of job opportunities, from nurses, midwives and physiotherapists to care and social workers, psychologists and counsellors employed by the NHS, local authorities, charities and schools. Many of our students also progress to university or Higher Level study in areas like nursing and medicine, and our achievement rates are higher than the national average.

Our tutors are all ex-industry professionals with vast experience who have built up excellent links with local employers, including the NHS, university training departments, mental health trusts, nursing and care homes and rehabilitation centres.

Courses focus on work placements to develop your first-hand experience and broaden students’ understanding of care services. Classroom work is varied, exciting and practical, and tutors actively encourage guest speakers, visits and travel to experience all health & social care sectors.

There is a range of part-time and full-time courses available in health & social care at Kendal College.

The tutors are very supportive and really approachable for help and support with assignments. It is a relaxed atmosphere and friendly.
