Graphic Design and Illustration - Next Steps
This course is designed for learners who have completed an introductory graphic design or illustration course and are ready to take their creative practice further. It provides an opportunity to develop a personal style, refine your technical skills and create a more ambitious portfolio of work through a self-directed creative project.
Delivered over 8 weeks, the course focuses on developing your creative process, strengthening your visual communication skills and encouraging experimentation with both graphic design and illustration. Through a combination of practical workshops, demonstrations and independent project work, you will explore professional approaches to creating visual content while discovering your own creative specialism.
You will learn how to research and generate original ideas, develop a personal visual style and apply advanced design techniques to a range of creative outcomes.
Workshops will explore illustration methods, editorial and poster design, portfolio development and professional presentation skills. Alongside these sessions, you will work on a self-directed project that reflects your individual interests and creative ambitions.
Throughout the course, you will receive tutor support and regular feedback as you develop your project from initial concept through to a finished body of work. A simple PowerPoint presentation will be used to upload, review and discuss your work, while independent study outside of class will help you build and refine your portfolio.
Your tutors are experienced creative practitioners with extensive industry and teaching experience. They will guide you through each stage of the course, providing technical support, creative advice and professional insight to help you achieve your project goals.
The course concludes with the presentation of your completed project and portfolio, giving you the opportunity to showcase your work, reflect on your creative development and explore progression routes within the creative industries or further study.
