Take your first step into the professional world of accounting with our AAT Level 1 Award in Bookkeeping. This programme offers a flexible, comprehensive introduction to the fundamentals of financial record-keeping, designed to build both your technical skills and your professional confidence.

What You Will Study
This course is specifically structured to cover the essential "building blocks" of finance. Small business owners and aspiring bookkeepers will find particular value in our core modules:

Managing Financial Transactions: Understanding the basics of double-entry bookkeeping.

Customer & Supplier Accounts: Learning how to process invoices and maintain accurate ledgers.

Receipts & Payments: Developing the skills to handle cash books and bank reconciliations with precision.


Learners will need to register with the AAT at an additional cost of 47GBP and may need to pay for further learning materials.

Learners must have an interest in accounts and have achieved a L1 in English or be working towards

After Your Course

After the course learners can progress on L2 Certificate in Bookkeeping or Level 2 in Accounting

£250.00

The current fee information is related to the 2025/26 academic year.

The fee displayed is the course fee. Course fees are charged per course for part-time students. There is the opportunity to pay in instalments if your course has a duration of 15 weeks or over. Please get in touch with Student Services for more information.

There may be additional costs associated with this course, including kits, equipment, books, and travel expenses. Financial support may be available to support you with these. See our Student Money pages for more information.

You may qualify for financial support to cover the cost of this government-funded qualification if any of the below apply to you:
- You are aged 16 to18 on 31st August of the relevant academic year and are not studying at another school or college
- Have a gross annual income of less than GBP25,750 (means-tested benefit or salary)
- Have a household income under GBP35,000 and are in financial hardship (bursary funding)
