Course Overview
If you are looking to embark on a career as a nail technician, working either in a salon or nail bar, our VTCT in Level 2 in Nail Technology course is designed to equip you with the knowledge, practical skills and industry-required qualification to be able do this with confidence.
This qualification can be completed in as little as 30weeks and includes the following units:
- Health, safety & hygiene
- Consultation techniques
- Contraindications
- Manicure
- Acrylic Nail Extensions (tip & overlay method)
- UV Gel Nail Extensions (tip & overlay method)
- Aftercare advice
- Basic Nail Art
This exciting course is hands-on, provides you with in-depth detail on a range of nail treatments and it is designed to prepare you to begin your career within the industry. The qualification not only provides you with extensive career opportunities, it is also internationally recognised and demonstrates your ability to work to an industry-standard level of practice.
You will learn a wide range of practical skills, from the polishing techniques to achieving a professional result, whilst also learning how to achieve in-demand nail enhancement services such as acrylic nails and gel polish.
Whilst you are perfecting your practical skills during training, you will also be consolidating your theoretical knowledge with our comprehensive tutoring. You will also be practising the skills that you have learnt in college, on models (friends/family) at home, gradually building a portfolio of treatments to submit as your practical coursework.
You can start earning by offering treatments to paying clients as soon as you have obtained your insurance, which can be purchased once you have successfully passed your VTCT qualification.
You will be assessed through assignments, exams and practical observations. You will need to provide at least three models to receive a full set of nails as part of your practical observations. To achieve the qualification you will need to complete and pass two online exams and submit and pass two set assignments.
Entry Requirements
A good standard of English plus communication skills. You must show interest and motivation with a keeness to learn.
After Your Course
Students may progress to a junior position within industry and/or progress level 2 diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques, the level 3 diploma in Nail Technology or the level 2 diploma in Hair & Media Make-Up.

£150.00

The fee displayed is the course fee. Course fees are charged per course for part-time students. There is the opportunity to pay in instalments. You may qualify for financial support to cover the cost of this government-funded qualification if any of the below apply to you:
- You are aged 16 to 18 on 31st August of the relevant academic year and are not studying at another school or college
- If you do not already have a Level 2 qualification and are under 24 on 31st August of the relevant academic year
- Have a gross annual income of less than GBP25,750 (means-tested benefit or salary)
- Have a household income under GBP35,000 and are in financial hardship (bursary funding)
