Course Overview

This bespoke programme has been created by tutors with over 30 years' experience in Residential Childcare. The course provides a supportive and practical introduction to leadership and management within the sector, giving you the tools to step confidently into a supervisory or managerial role.

You'll study essential topics including:

-Leading people
-Communication
-Managing people
-Decision making
-Self-awareness and continuous development
-Building relationships
-Operational management

How you'll learn:

Classroom-based sessions with access to full college resources
Interactive workshops and discussions
Practical activities to apply learning to your workplace

Assessment:

You will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence, demonstrating your knowledge and skills.

Progression Route:

This course provides a positive progression into the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, supporting your journey towards senior roles in the sector.

Entry Requirements

To apply, you will need:

-A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare
-Current employment in a Residential Childcare setting
-The opportunity to carry out at least a Team Leader role within your workplace, with the support of your employer

Please note: there are no additional course fees beyond standard college costs.

After Your Course

Many learners continue on to the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.

Successful completion also opens pathways to roles such as:

-Team Leader / Senior Residential Support Worker
-Deputy Manager
-Residential Childcare Manager
