Course Overview
The AAQ in Health & Social Care will allow you to study the sectors current demands of a fast paced environment. You will develop your knowledge of industry practices and build skills that are required for a related career progression.
You will study 4 units within this course. Three of these units are mandatory and are:
1. Human Lifespan and development
2. Human Biology and Health
3. Principles of Health and Social Care Practice
Units 1 and 2 are externally assessed units and these are assessed through examinations. Unit 3 is internally assessed through assignment based tasks.
There will be additional unit, chosen by the tutor, that is internally assessed through an assignment based task.
Please be aware that the themes and topics in Unit 3: Principles of Health and Social Care Practice and Unit 6: Safe Environments in Health and Social Care may contain mentions of upsetting or difficult topics which are related to the subject. This including references to: Child protection and welfare, Safeguarding, Child abuse; physical abuse and injury, neglect, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, domestic abuse.
Throughout the course you will develop transferable skills that would benefit additional subjects and industries. Some of these include: self-management, interpersonal skills , problem solving, digital collaboration and communication, digital security and sustainability education practices.
You will have the option to take part in additional academic and skill development opportunities such as ASPIRE, Core maths, Duke of Edinburgh award in addition to the TWO (minimum) A levels, tutorial sessions and study support sessions that make up your full-time programme. The qualification is equivalent to 1 A-Level.
Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above, including Maths and English Language.

This qualification can lead to progression to the following degrees:
- BSC Nursing
- BSC Social Work
- BSC Subjects Allied to Health

Level 3-6 Courses
Advanced Learning Loans are available for students aged 19 or over and studying eligible level 3, 4, 5 & 6 courses. If you are on an Access course, the loan will be written off if you complete a degree.
You may qualify for financial support to cover the cost of a Level 3 qualification if you do not already have a Level 3 qualification (this will depend on the course & your age on 31/08/24).

A-Levels
The fees displayed are for the one-year AS-Level course. If you would like to progress onto the full A-Level, please get in touch with us for the cost of the second year, as it will be different.
16-18 year olds
There are no course fees if you were aged 16-18 on 31/08/24 and are not studying at another institution.
