Course Overview
This qualification is part of a full-time programme, studying 3 or 4 A-Level subjects and/or AAQs.
A-Level Mathematics offers students with a good understanding of Maths the chance to study it at a higher level. Mathematics is an excellent addition to a course of study for people looking for careers in science, accountancy, finance, operational research, engineering, medicine and education.
This A-Level is awarded by AQA.
You will complete the AS Level in the first year and the A-Level in the second to form a full A-Level. In both years you will be studying topics including but not limited to the following:
- Calculus (differentiation and integration, applications)
- Algebra, trigonometry and the use of exponentials and logarithms in modelling
- Forces, vectors and dynamics
- Statistical models, handling large data sets and probability calculations.
Skills gained include:
- An understanding of the mathematics that underpin many aspects of our lives
- The ability to apply a range of mathematical skills to different situations
- Acute logical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- The ability to process, interpret and analyse information
Entry Requirements
5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above which must include English Language
GCSE Maths at Grade 7

Throughout the AS and A-Level Mathematics programme, students are encouraged to think logically and analytically. These fundamental maths skills are useful across all kinds of disciplines and careers.
A-Level Mathematics is a good choice for students considering higher education in any science or maths-based course, ranging from Biochemical Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Medical Science and Psychology to Philosophy, Economics, Accountancy, Management and Actuarial Science.
Career opportunities for students who study A-Level Mathematics include: industry, accountancy, finance, economics, healthcare, medicine, veterinary science and engineering.

Level 3-6 Courses
Advanced Learning Loans are available for students aged 19 or over and studying eligible level 3, 4, 5 & 6 courses. If you are on an Access course, the loan will be written off if you complete a degree.
You may qualify for financial support to cover the cost of a Level 3 qualification if you do not already have a Level 3 qualification (this will depend on the course & your age on 31/08/24).

A-Levels
The fees displayed are for the one-year AS-Level course. If you would like to progress onto the full A-Level, please get in touch with us for the cost of the second year, as it will be different.
16-18 year olds
There are no course fees if you were aged 16-18 on 31/08/24 and are not studying at another institution.
