Course Overview
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge needed to manage practice and lead others in residential childcare settings for children and young people. The qualification enables the learner to gain essential skills and knowledge for leading in a residential childcare setting, including leading and managing a team; leading and managing group living; leading practice to support children and young people; and implementing policies and procedures. It also offers the learner the opportunity to cover optional topics which are particularly suited to specific residential childcare and respite care settings.
The knowledge and understanding of the course is delivered in the classroom, with all observations and work based activities/assessment happening in the place of work.
Entry Requirements
Learners will need to be working in the role of Deputy or Manager in an appropriate setting, or have the opportunity to carry out responsibilities associated with these roles to be able to study for the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England).
After Your Course
Learners can progress onto a degree in a related discipline.

The current full-time & degree-level fee information is related to the 2024/25 academic year.
Level 3-6 Courses
Advanced Learning Loans are available for students aged 19 or over and studying eligible level 3, 4, 5 & 6 courses. If you are on an Access course, the loan will be written off if you complete a degree.
It is also possible to pay in full or via instalments.
Performing Arts, Level 4 - This course is free if you are aged 18 on 31/08/2024.
