Initial ideas are taken into workshops, seminars, developmental studio work and experimental practical processes.

By completing this course, you will achieve a University of Arts London (UAL) Level 3 Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design & Communication.

This is 2 year course and is equivalent to 3 A-Levels and is worth up to 168 UCAS points (Triple Distinction*) or 144 UCAS points (Triple Distinction). UCAS have recently changed the UCAS Tariff from September 2017 so they could include more qualifications. The new Tariff points are lower than the original Tariff points but the value remains the same, as universities will just use lower Tariff numbers in their entry requirements than in previous years.

Throughout the course we also deliver a core programme involving drawing, contextual studies and personal professional development. In year one you will work towards completing set assignment briefs in a variety of different art and design specialisms. They will involve contextual research that will be applied to practical workshops to develop your technical understanding. The workshops will inspire and drive your creative ability allowing you to produce a range of individual art and design outcomes.

In year 2 you will be able to build on the core skills learnt in year one, with opportunities to learn more specialist techniques in your chosen art and design specialism. Throughout this year you will get the opportunity to work towards client led project assignments providing you with real life industry experience. The course finishes with a Summer Exhibition of your independent final project work. Throughout the course you will develop enterprise and presentation skills and be supported to achieve your progression goal, to potential universities, employment or further training. You will also learn how to structure and deliver presentations and how to build a professional portfolio.

All of our learners will be given support with their English and Maths skills where relevant to their main course. Those students who have not yet achieved a Grade 4 (or C) at GCSE in these subjects will continue to work towards these important qualifications at a level suited to them. However, students will still have to achieve the stated Entry Requirements before they start the course. Assessment is through on-going continuous assessment of unit work leading to a final major project achieved at Pass, Merit or Distinction grade. 168 UCAS points (Distinction) or 120 UCAS points (Merit) or 72 UCAS points (Pass).

Entry Requirements

Five GCSE at Grade 4 or above, preferably including English or Maths and Art, Design and Media or similar; or a Level 2 (First) Diploma in Art, Design and Media at Merit Level or above.
