We are delighted to welcome you to the audition for Performing Arts at Kendal College.

The audition is a ‘snapshot’ of what you can do and will enable us to decide which programme best suits your development as a performer and theatremaker.

What you need to prepare for the audition/ interview:

Please select a monologue of your choice which is no longer than 2 minutes but is from memory. This can be from a play or a film.

AND

Select One of the following.

1. A choreographed dance routine of no more than 2 minutes.

OR

2. A song of your choice (this can be with a backing track, accompanied or without music).

    Tips to help you

    • Try to find a monologue with a character similar to your age range.
    • Decide who they are talking to and where they are in the space.
    • Think about putting in movement but know why you move a- don’t just move for the sake of it.
    • Please try to avoid an American accent.
    • You do not need to use any props unless you think they are essential.
    • You do not need to look at the audition tutor when acting.
    • Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse.

We are not looking for perfection, but we are looking for something that shows you have potential. Please do not be nervous- this is not the X-Factor- we want you to do well and will support you.
