Unlocking Potential - Transforming Lives - Creating Bright Futures

Agriculture and other land-based work is vital to Cumbria’s economy and culture. We are excited to offer new programmes, which are looking for experienced staff to deliver.

Cumbria has a diverse land-based sector, and our programmes will teach learners modern techniques for productivity and business methods that will allow them to embrace the opportunities that will arise in the years to come. With our Cumbrian-based offer and staff expertise, we will tailor our programmes to suit the needs of local employers while ensuring that learners have the knowledge and skills to succeed anywhere. With Cumbrian agriculture alone accounting for nearly 5% of all English farms over 508,000 hectares and full time 12,000 jobs there is plenty of work to do.

We will use our network of local employers to work with our team and give learners a diverse, relevant set of experiences. The successful candidate will work in numerous locations or our facilities so our learners receive the training they need. This will include both taught practical sessions and work placements.

The department delivers agricultural apprenticeships, a full-time Level 1 land-based programme, and short courses. We are keen to hear from applicants with backgrounds/experience in the agricultural sector/industry.

The successful candidate(s) will have experience delivering the highest-quality teaching and learning. They will embrace an environment that values creativity, technology, and forward-thinking methodologies. They will build strong, positive working relationships with a supportive and collaborative team of educators and professional services who share the common goal of providing a meaningful educational experience.

They will have excellent organisational and time-management skills and can prioritise work effectively to meet objectives and deadlines. They will be comfortable with and proactively adapt to rapid changes in educational trends within the sector. They will be able to plan and prioritise their own schedule of work to achieve objectives, have strong IT skills, and be happy to be part of a close-knit team with shared objectives.

The successful candidates will themselves be educated to at least Level 4 and capable of sharing their knowledge with our students in an engaging and informative manner that benefits their passion for the subject.

Teaching experience is desirable, but we are looking for someone who is confident in sharing their experience and knowledge with our students. We would support you in gaining a formal teaching qualification alongside your work with us.
