Course Overview
It covers preparing to dip sheep by demonstrating understanding and knowledge of legislative, welfare and environmental requirements, protective clothing, record keeping, control of external parasites, sheep diseases and dip disposal. An optional unit on practical dipping will put this knowledge in to practice.
This is delivered as an in-college lesson in preparation for an online exam also in college.
Then follows a practical assessment on farm. This usually last 2.5 hours and will be organised in groups of five.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, but trainees will need to bring Wellington boots and suitable PPE/outdoor clothing.
After Your Course
After the course, learners will be able to legally buy & administer sheep dip. You could also undertake another of our part-time agriculture courses, including Animal Transport by Road (Long Journey Attendant), Animal Transport by Road (Short Journey Driver), Forklift Truck Operations, Safe & Responsible Use of Veterinary Medicines, Safe Application of Pesticides or Safe Use of All-Terrain Vehicles.
