Course Overview

This course introduces complementary therapies such as anatomy and physiology, body massage, aromatherapy massage and reflexology. These subjects can be taken separately on a part-time basis to achieve individual certificates or over two days to achieve the full 'Diploma in Complementary Therapies'.

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies (QCF) is a technical level qualification that provides learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work as an employed and/or self-employed complementary therapist, either within the National Health Service, in private practice, or in Spa's. This qualification is based on Skills for Health Complementary Therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Core Curricula published by lead bodies in the sector.

This qualification is recognised by the UK's largest complementary therapy trade body/professional association, The Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and also the UK's second largest association representing complementary therapists; the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a complementary therapist.

The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements to work effectively as a complementary therapist: anatomy, physiology and pathology, principles and practice of complementary therapies including health and safety, client care, client consultation; business principles, aromatherapy, massage and reflexology.

You will build a portfolio of evidence during your course and will undertake both practical and theoretical assessment and case studies.
