Why did you choose this course?
I enjoyed the wildlife aspect on my Level 3 in the ARC, and it inspired me to do the degree.

Why did you choose Kendal College?
Coming to a college to do a foundation degree was less daunting than the whole process of trying to get into uni. Tutor showed me the modules and went through everything we would be doing in the studies I was quite aware of what I was getting myself into. Bespoke course there is no other courses anywhere nearby that offer this course. It is wildlife rehabilitation not nature and conservation which is available in other areas, it is very specialised.

Is College like you had expected. If not, why?
Better than what I was expecting. Got friends who are at uni and they attend lectures and listen, write, leave, here we can have conversations and debates rather than just listening you are involved in the learning a bit more. Better than I thought it was going to be.

What do you most enjoy about College life?
The course – hands-on experience we get with the wild animals that come to us. We get injured animals, juveniles, abandoned animals, fledglings. We carry out an initial assessment lucky to have a vet on site, so we discuss what the options are and then we make the decisions.

What opportunities have you had as a student at the College?
Wildlife opportunities in ARC, plenty of bird watching field trips, got book and binoculars.

What is the teaching style like on your course?
Good. Relaxed but thorough gradual, bring things together, tutors very knowledgeable and have experience from all over from marine to zoo to vet so any question one of them will be able to answer or have the resources to be able to find the answer.

How would you describe your College experience so far?
I am developing my confidence; am expecting to achieve lower and when I achieve higher that’s doing good things for me. Good support.

What are you hoping to do after College?
Top up at UOC at Ambleside taking it one step at a time.

What facilities do you use regularly at the College?
Canteen, car park, library Wifi, printers.

If you could give one piece of advice to people considering College, what would it be?
Just do it.
