Why did you choose this course?
I finished 6th Form and auditioned for Drama schools without success. I had considered college in Y11 and thought this would be the best place for me.

Why did you choose Kendal College?
I did Drama at GCSE and A level and BTEC Acting, in shows, National Youth Theatre and Brewery Arts.

Is College like you had expected. If not, why?
It is pretty good, high pressure and very collaborative. I came to it having done a course at a similar level so can do blogging easily; having more practical stuff to do was what I was lacking before and this is what I have got. As a mature student, it was a little odd at first, there are a couple of people my age and a couple older than me. You don’t always get along with everyone, but you get some really good friends and learn how everyone works.

What do you most enjoy about College life?
I’m involved with Chaos Collective Theatre Co. run by one of the tutors and we are doing a show in Edinburgh to do a show in the summer.

What is the teaching style like on your course?
The learning style suits people practically minded. We learn naturalistic acting techniques.

Can you describe a typical day at College?
9.15 start with dance or acting till lunch. Singing lesson once a week. In the afternoons, we continue with acting/dance and blogging sessions and tutorials. I realised it would be physical. I am not a dancer but I’ve learned a lot. That put me off at first. You have to learn the skillset. I feel I have more confidence after being rejected from Drama schools, now I have a place and am off in Sept. It’s given me confidence in my own abilities, and my own way of working we get to devise a lot and I have had a chance to do directing quite a bit which has increased my confidence in that area as well.

What are you hoping to do after College?
The East 15 Acting and Contemporary Theatre course which is a 3-year acting course incorporating a lot of devising and you write your own scripts etc.
