Why did you choose this course?
I want to go into childcare, and this course gives me the option of progression to Level 2.

Why did you choose Kendal College?
My brother came here, and word of mouth together with my research into the college all looked good.

Is college like you had expected. If not, why not?
It’s better than I expected and better than school. There is more freedom and we are treated like adults.

What do you most enjoy about College life?
I like being treated like an adult, meeting new people and socialising and the freedom of college life.

What opportunities have you had as a student at the College?
I am a student course rep and part of the Fundraising team. Our group organised event went very well.

What is the teaching style like on your course?
We are treated like adults and cover both theory and practical. We go on walks related to our course and have visited care homes.

Can you describe a typical day at College?
I arrive at 9am and meet friends for breakfast in the Café. We go to our course, have a mid-morning break, then back to lessons until lunch when we usually go out of college. Afternoons are English or Maths.

How would you describe your College experience so far?
I have enjoyed college so far; it’s a nice environment and I’m not scared to be here. Overall everyone is nice.

What are you hoping to do after college?
I plan to progress to Level 2 then apply for a Level 3 Apprenticeship in childhood studies.

What facilities do you use regularly at College?
I use the vending machines for drinks and snacks and the college laptops.

If you could give one piece of advice to people considering College, what would it be?
Think about and research the course that you want to do before applying and check progression routes.
