HOW DO YOU SEE THIS APPRENTICESHIP IMPACTING ON YOUR FUTURE CAREER?

I have finished my online college work now after 2 years and I am waiting for my observation in the Spring. Once level 4 is completed, my manager Paul is hopefully looking at me applying for level 6 at university, studying biomedical science. If I get on this I might be able to become a trainee biomedical scientist, progressing my career further.

WHAT DO / DID YOU ENJOY ABOUT YOUR APPRENTICESHIP?

It’s interesting. The other students I go with have made a really positive impact on the course for me. My mentor has been fantastic (he’s based at my work) and I feel in 2 years my understanding in histology has increased.

It was also nice to get a prize last year from Kendal college for the apprenticeship.

WOULD YOU RECOMMEND AN APPRENTICESHIP TO OTHERS?

Yes definitely. There is no student loan and you are learning and earning on the job!
