Course Overview

The qualification is for current Kendal College students ONLY.

This qualification will appeal to those who use a forklift as part of their work in agriculture, horticulture or distribution and warehousing. It has been developed to cover the "basic training" requirements of the Approved Code of Practice for Rider Operated Forklift Trucks. This does not replace any legal requirement for a driving licence.

Candidates can choose the type of forklift for assessment: Rough Terrain Masted Forklift, Counter-balance Forklift or Telescopic Forklift. The assessment covers the associated differences between use, operation and maintenance of the machines, pre-use maintenance and safety checks, recognition of controls and instruments.

Entry Requirements

The qualification is for current Kendal College students ONLY. The course is available as one day of training for experienced drivers, or two days of training plus assessment for novices.

There will be an individual practical assessment on a separate day.

Candidates need an overall, boots and weather appropriate clothing.

After Your Course

You could undertake another of our part-time agriculture courses, including Animal Transport by Road (Long Journey Attendant), Animal Transport by Road (Short Journey Driver), Safe & Responsible Use of Veterinary Medicines, Safe Application of Pesticides, Safe Use of All-Terrain Vehicles or Safe Use of Sheep Dip.
