Course Overview
This course is designed to equip you with the basic skills in plumbing and heating.
You will learn about health and safety, plumbing science, plumbing processes, cold and hot water, central heating, sanitation and other subjects related to the industry.
On the Level 3 programme you will study more advanced subjects such as environmental technology.
All of our learners will be given support with their English and Maths skills where relevant to their main programme. Those students who have not yet achieved a 'C' grade at GCSE in these subjects will continue to work towards these important qualifications at a level suited to them.
The course has been designed to contribute to providing evidence of occupational competence to enable progression to a level 3 qualification, or an apprenticeship.
The course will cover the following modules:
- Health and safety
- Plumbing and heating processes
- Electrical and scientific principles
- Cold water
- Hot water central heating
- Sanitation
- Intro to renewable technologies (heat pumps, solar thermal, energy conservation)
You will be assessed through a synoptic practical exam and online theory exams and provided with work placement to gain the essential skills for the industry.
On completion you will be given the opportunity to progress to level 3 technical, or this will provide a foundation to progress to the Apprenticeship standard level 3 and then onto HNC in the BSE sector to a variety of pathways in the renewable industry.
