Alisha studied Level 3 Animal Management and progressed to studying Veterinary Medicine at the University of Liverpool.
If it wasn’t for the help of my lecturers, I would not be where I am today.
Before I came to Kendal, I knew I wanted to work in the veterinary sector, and after visiting lots of different institutes, I knew Kendal was the place for me. The teaching style suited me better, and the staff were always kind, patient, and welcoming. I learned many things that I still use today, such as animal handling skills and even some clinical skills!
I loved all of my classes and still remember carrying out shore and zoo enclosure surveys and going to South Africa! I knew I wanted to take part in veterinary medicine, but I had no idea how far I wanted to go. Once I started and saw the Animal Rescue Centre with Lisbeth working in wildlife veterinary medicine and rehabilitation, I knew I wanted to be a veterinary surgeon. From then on, I started looking for the best place to study veterinary medicine and what experience and grades I needed to get there. Without the help I received from Lisbeth, I would never have made it as far as I have. I still remember South Africa as if it were only yesterday! The friends I made during my time at college I still have today!
If you prefer learning a subject that you are actually interested in in a practical and enjoyable way, I would say Kendal is the best choice! The lecturers are all extremely knowledgeable, and you’ll learn so much! There was never a dull moment when I was here, and actually being able to get hands-on experience brought everything to life, making everything so much easier to learn.
I am in my 4th year of veterinary medicine at the University of Liverpool and living the dream!
