Construction

“It is good for the soul to create with our hands”, and this is probably why some trade workers, including those working in construction, plumbing and electricity, are some of the happiest in the UK according to a new survey.

Course Overview

This course is a college certificate, focusing on individuals learning needs e.g. if you want to learn how to fit a mortice lock or letter plate. The course can be tailored towards a project, which could be, manufacturing a coffee table, learning basic joints or finishing of a project which could be part of a larger project, for example, shelves for a yacht or camper van.

You will be learning from a trade specialist who will have had years' of experience working within the construction sector managing projects and has completed qualifications up to and above the advanced craft certificates in the specific disciplines you as a learner require.

You will learn in state-of-the-art workshops with tools, however you can supply your own tools if preferred.

There will be power tools available which are to be supervised on a one-to-one basis.

You will have supervision from our college technician who will support you with any machining requirements.

Entry Requirements

You will need some basic hand skills and an understanding of health and safety.

Fees

£199.00

Course fees are per year for full-time & degree-level courses, and per course for part-time ones. The current full-time & degree-level fee information is related to the 2020/21 academic year and is subject to change before the start of the course. Fees for 2021/22 will be updated in the Spring Term. There may also be additional costs associated with the course.

This course is not funded by the government and is full cost. As such, the course is the price stated for all students. If you are paying for your course, there may be the option to pay by instalments if the course fees are over £200 and the course duration is 15 weeks or more. Please speak to Student Services for more information on course fees.
