Course Overview

The Printmaking course is designed to introduce you to basic printmaking techniques such as mono printing, dry point etching, lino printing and screen printing and will be taught in our specialist print studio.

By completing this course, you will achieve a University of Arts London (UAL) Level 2 Award in Art & Design (Printmaking).

For the final assessment you will work towards a 6 week project allowing you to develop ideas informed by artist and subject research. You will have the opportunity to revisit printmaking techniques you have enjoyed to create a final print outcome. Your final work will be supported by mood boards, design sketches, reference images, test prints and a final evaluation recorded in your sketchbook.

During the course you will learn how to use materials, tools and equipment needed for printmaking and will be given demonstrations and technical support from the tutor. During the exploratory stage of the course you will create a collection of prints using a variety of printing methods and be encouraged to be experimental and explore different surfaces and embellishments.

- You will be assessed at a Pass, Merit and Distinction level. There is no formal examination element to this course.
- You will be assessed via a portfolio of work produced throughout the course.
- You will develop a portfolio of work which will include mood boards, artists research, test prints, a final print and evaluation.

The course fee includes a workshop fee of GBP20, which covers the use of resources and materials.
