The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Epilation (QCF) is a qualification that has been specially designed to develop your skills using electrolysis for hair removal. The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills as a beauty therapist or electrologist to enable you to provide electrical epilation treatments.
Within this qualification, you will develop a sound knowledge of:
- Monitor and maintain health and safety practice in the salon
- Client care and communication in related industries
- Provide electrical epilation
This unit is about the skills involved in assessing, preparing for and carrying out electrical needle epilation treatments to remove hair using alternating current and blend techniques.
You will also need to show you can competently advise clients on the care required after electrical epilation.
As part of this qualification, you are required to produce a portfolio of evidence. A portfolio will confirm the knowledge, understanding and skills that you have learnt. It may be in electronic or paper format.
Evidence in the portfolio may take the following forms:
- Observed work
- Witness statements
- Audio-visual media
- Evidence of prior learning or attainment
- Written questions
- Oral questions
- Case studies
Evidence for this unit must be gathered in a real or realistic working environment. Simulation is not allowed in this unit. All 'Observation' outcomes must be on real clients. There is one external paper that must be achieved.
A Level 2 Beauty Therapy or Anatomy and Physiology qualification.
After Your Course
This qualification may lead directly into employment as an electrologist in a Beauty Salon or Spa, or to self-employment as a mobile electrologist. You may also progress onto the advanced epilation course after successful completion of this one.
Course fees are per year. The current fee information is related to the 2018/19 academic year and is subject to change before the start of the course. Fees for 2019/20 will be updated in the Spring Term. There may also be additional costs associated with the course.
This course is not funded by the government and is full cost. As such, the course is the price stated for all students. If you are paying for your course, there may be the option to pay by instalments if the course fees are over £200 and the course duration is 15 weeks or more.
