Course Overview

On this eight-week course you will continue to use your creativity and imagination to create your very own cake designs. You will learn new skills ready to recreate at home for your friends and family or even your very own clients.

Cake decoration skills can take a life time to perfect, but this eight-week course will give you all tips and knowledge to get you started to creating master pieces of your very own.

The eight-week course will start at 6.30pm and finish at 8.30pm.

If you have a keen enthusiasm to learn new skills and meet likeminded people, this is the course for you. There will be no need to bring anything, as all ingredients will be provided, so just bring yourself and enjoy the experience.
You will learn how to produce icing products that you can easily reproduce at home.

You will learn how to produce icing in an easy and simple process.

You will develop presentation skills to show off your master piece.

Once you have completed this course, you will have the confidence to replicate the decoration methods over and over again.

Over the eight weeks you will learn to create:

- Brush embroidered designs
- Coating a royal iced and sugar pasted cake
- Pressure piping
- Lace work
- Bas relief designs
- Creating a sugar flower arrangement
- Creating sugar models

The course will be assessed through non-formal assessment.

Feedback will be given to each individual throughout the sessions.

There are no exams for the course, just a positive attitude.

Entry Requirements

Learners are required to have attended the basic cake decoration course or to have the basic knowledge to move on to the advanced course.

This is a hobby course, but it may have opened your eyes to new opportunities.

Course fees are per year. The current fee information is related to the 2018/19 academic year and is subject to change before the start of the course. Fees for 2019/20 will be updated in the Spring Term. There may also be additional costs associated with the course.

This course is not funded by the government and is full cost. As such, the course is the price stated for all students. If you are paying for your course, there may be the option to pay by instalments if the course fees are over £200 and the course duration is 15 weeks or more. Please speak to Student Services for more information on course fees.
