The course will be held at Mapdec Cycle Works on Westmorland Business Park in Kendal. Mapdec is an independent bicycle workshop and fitness studio. Their team are highly trained and have extensive technical knowledge on bike maintenance, making them ideally placed to guide you through this course. Teaching will take place in their new custom-built classroom, providing the space and resources necessary for you to complete the program successfully.
A two-day course, one week apart - On the first day we cover all the theory involved in the part selection, compatibility, measurements and performance. We then practice some lacing and truing techniques. If you are building a set of wheels for yourself, you will have a week to source your hubs, spokes and rims before the final day. On day 2, a week later, we will lace, true, dish, tension and equalise your wheels. You can use our practice wheel if you like.
After Your Course
Following the completion of the course, you will have the confidence to build bicycle wheels on your own. You may also be interested in further other bicycle maintenance courses being run by Mapdec Cycle Works.
