Level 1 Land-Based Studies: What you need to know...

- Gives you a taste of many aspects of working on the land
- Practical skills are developed
Working on the land is interesting and rewarding. There are many jobs that need doing from farm work, forests and keeping the land the way it should be. This includes uplands, woodland and farmland and how they can be used, conserved and developed. This course will give you a taste of what you need to know and be able to do to work effectively in all these places. You will learn how to work safely and gain a wide range of experiences with in different environments.
Our experienced staff will guide your learning through practical hands on experience and lessons that explain what you need to know. Our excellent links to Industry will allow you to discover the most up to date developments and let you find out what you are interested in and good at. This will prepare you for a range of carers in the farming community.

- Land management
- Forest management
Entry Requirements
You need to demonstrate that you are working at Entry Level 3/GCSE Level 1 (or above) in Maths and English. An interview will be required, and initial assessments/transition visits may form part of the offer process.

After Your Course
Support progression into a skilled occupation; apprenticeships; or higher-level technical study.

The fee displayed is the course fee. Course fees are per year for full-time & degree-level courses and per course for part-time courses.
There may be other costs associated with this course, e.g. kit, equipment, books, trips etc. Financial support may be available to support you with these. See the Student Money pages for more information.

Entry Level, Level 1 & Level 2 Courses
You may qualify for financial support to cover the cost of a government-funded qualification if any of the below apply to you:
- Have an annual salary of less than £20,319.
- Receive an eligible means-tested benefit, e.g. JSA, ESA or Universal Credit.
- Are aged 16-18 on 31/08/23 and are not studying at another school/college.
- Are aged 19 or over on 31/08/23 and do not already have a Level 1, 2 or 3 qualification.
- Have a household income under £35,000 and are in financial hardship.
