This qualification consists of the following topics:
- Role of a mentor
- Preparing for the role of a mentor
- Demonstrating mentoring skills
This is ideal for anyone already working in a mentoring role or for those who would like to develop their knowledge of this area before becoming a mentor to apprentices.
The qualification aims to help learners:
- gain insight into the role and practice of mentorship
- be clear about mentor/mentee relationships
- ensure they follow good practice
- be aware of the specific skills and understanding required to mentor
- review their own learning and work performance
- develop knowledge of Apprenticeship programmes
Learners are expected to attend 2 group sessions that will be delivered in Kendal College. These will take place over 2 afternoons. Learners will also take part in work-based assessments where a Kendal College Lecturer will visit the workplace to allow the learner to demonstrate competence via observed assessment. Additional methods of assessment that will be used by the lecturer to include: assignments, case studies, observations, witness testimonies, reflective accounts and some work products.
The learner will be expected to produce a portfolio of evidence. Assessment and verification will be undertaken by a Kendal College Assessor then Internal and External Verification will be carried out by NCFE Awarding Body.
There are no formal entry requirements, but all learners must be available to attend 2 group sessions and have access to Apprentices who will receive mentoring from you. All learners will undertake a literacy & numeracy assessment before starting the course. Learners must be living in England and not taking part in full-time education.
When we have received your application, you will be invited to attend an interview with a lecturer.
After Your Course
Progression to the Level 3 Coaching/Mentor Apprenticeship Standard may be an exciting route for those with a role working with Apprentices over a more extended period of time.
The fee displayed is the course fee. Course fees are per year for full-time & degree-level courses, and per course for part-time courses. There may be other costs associated with this course e.g. kit, equipment, books, trips etc.
This course is not funded by the government and is full cost. As such, the course is the price stated for all students. If you are paying for your course, there may be the option to pay by instalments if the course fees are over £200 and the course duration is 15 weeks or more.
