This 8 week course will explore starting points and finding inspiration as part of your journey towards making your writing lively and engaging.
You will learn the key elements of fiction writing, particularly in relation to short stories, including structure, characterisation, dialogue, point of view, narrative voice, style, and how to develop, sustain and end a story.
You will learn the key elements of fiction writing, particularly in relation to short stories, including:

- How to develop, sustain and end a story
Depending on the particular interests of students on the course, we may also look specifically at novel writing, experimental writing, playwriting and scriptwriting. You will also be given guidance to help you continue to develop your practice as a writer, how to revise and edit your own work, and how to attract the attention of publishers; as well as self-publishing digitally.
Applicants must be proficient in written and spoken English equivalent to GCSE at Grade C.

Creative writing skills can be applied to a very wide range of career paths, ranging from Digital Media and Publishing to Business and Marketing.
The fee displayed is the course fee. Course fees are per year for full-time & degree-level courses, and per course for part-time courses. There may be other costs associated with this course e.g. kit, equipment, books, trips etc.
This course is not funded by the government and is full cost. As such, the course is the price stated for all students. If you are paying for your course, there may be the option to pay by instalments if the course fees are over £200 and the course duration is 15 weeks or more.
