You will study Financial Accounting (Financial Statements for Limited Companies) and Management Accounting (Costing and Budgeting) and Accounting Systems and Controls. The optional units* (you need two) include Personal Tax, Business Tax, Cash & Treasury Management, Credit Management and External Auditing. Each unit is assessed by a computer-based exam followed by a synoptic exam (which also includes Accounting Systems and Controls) at the end of the course.

Classes include lectures supported by hand-outs, tutor demonstration and worked examples. This is followed by students working practical examples to apply new techniques and practices in preparation for the exam and the workplace.

Entry requirements are the successful completion of AAT Advanced Certificate in Accounting (Level 3) at a minimum merit grade or relevant industry experience. Please contact a tutor to discuss the most appropriate course for you.
If you are working in accounting, you may be eligible to undertake this qualification as part of a government funded apprenticeship.
You will need to register as a member of AAT to sit the exams. The cost of this is circa 94 pounds.
Your enrolment will include the first sitting for all exams. Any resit will be subject to a fee of circa 45 pounds.
After Your Course
There are wide and varied career opportunities for AAT students including accountant, finance manager and bookkeeper. Accounting is also a useful skill for someone in a general business management role. Some students go on to set up their own business as a bookkeeper or undertake the accounting for a family business.
On successful completion of the AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting (Level 4) and relevant work experience you can apply for AAT full membership and achieve professional MAAT status. You may also progress to study for chartered accountancy status.

Level 3-6 Courses
Advanced Learning Loans are available for students aged 19 or over and studying an eligible Level 3/4/5 and 6 Course. If you are on an Access course, the loan will be written off if you complete a degree.
It is also possible to pay in full or via instalments.
Performing Arts, Level 4 - this course is free if you are aged 18 on 31 August 2022.
