Course Overview

This course is taught by Clare Welch who has had a long career in the UK and overseas fashion industry. She has significant skills working with textiles and clothing and is a talented sewing expert. You will use both hand sewing techniques and machine stitching to creatively upcycle clothes, make alterations to new clothes and personalise items upgrading and updating them to your own taste.

You will learn:

- How to up-cycle your clothes creatively
- How to embellish with sequins, motifs, ribbons & buttons
- How to attach a zip, button and make a button hole
- How to alter clothes to improve the fit

Clare will deliver the course through practical demonstrations providing the opportunity to ask questions and take notes. You will then be observed and supported practicing the techniques covered in each session. There is no formal assessment or qualification linked to this course.

A variety of fabric samples will be available for you to use but you are encouraged to bring in your own items to work on.
