Course Overview

This is an ideal choice for anyone who loves reading and books. You will study an exciting variety of texts, writers and genres from different historical periods ranging from iconic Shakespearean dramas to novels written in the past ten years. Literature is interested in the big questions affecting human existence and we encourage you to share your own views on these topics.

This is a highly respected qualification that can help you to gain a university place in one of a variety of subjects. You will develop a range of transferable skills, such as learning to think analytically, evaluating different interpretations of texts, and listening and responding to others in preparation for the seminar style environment you are likely to find at university. One of the most important skills you will learn is how to write coherently and critically. This is an essential ability that will be useful in your other subjects and is invaluable in Higher Education and the world of employment. This is a linear course and as such, the qualification will be gained at the end of the second year of study.

The course can be taken in the following ways:

- Within KC Sixth with another two, possibly three A-Levels, tutorial and optional EPQ and Core maths
- As an 'add on' to a Full Time Level 3 Study Programme at the College, for example alongside a BTEC Extended Diploma
- As a stand-alone part-time course

If you would like to study a full-time programme of A-levels, please complete a full-time application form.
