Why did you choose this course?
I didn’t do it at GCSE and wanted to do Mental Health so H&S was the best option. Starting at L2 I could progress and do a full 3 years by completing L3. I came a few days before the course started as I did not know about Open Evenings. My Careers Advisor told me about Kendal College. I spoke to the course tutor and enrolled on the course.

Why did you choose Kendal College?
It was the best college that was close.

Is College like you had expected. If not, why?
Yes. It is good and different from school with a bit more freedom. You are treated as a young adult more so than at school.

How would you describe your College experience so far?
The modules I have done are health & body systems, how respiratory system works, how the digestive system works etc. Assignments, Communication work, eg. how to approach and calm people down and reassure them. Social influences - how to tackle situations. We will do Work Placements next year. I attend 4 days a week now. The Tutors are very supportive and really approachable for help and support with assignments and a bit more time. It is a relaxed atmosphere and friendly. I’ve had no issues and I’ve increased my confidence.

What are you hoping to do after College?
University

What facilities do you use regularly at the College?
I use the Café and library quite frequently to catch up on work. Staff are helpful and there are research facilities. Library Staff encourage me to get on with my work if I lose focus. The Café has a good range of food at a reasonable price.

If you could give one piece of advice to people considering College, what would it be? Be prepared to do something. There is a lot of work but if you apply yourself and push yourself and manage your time well, you can do it. You need to push yourself to progress.
