Kendal College 2021 57

In my second year of sixth form at a school in Lancaster, I became interested in business when I was offered a management role in my part-time job. With that new passion, I left sixth form and applied for the Level 3 Business course at Kendal College. After one year, I was encouraged to join the Level 4 degree-level course instead. I think this really demonstrates that the college staff always have your best interests at heart and will support you through a journey that challenges and empowers you. From my experience, it’s important to consider your options and not have tunnel vision. See what choices you actually have in life. I’d like to open my own restaurant one day, and I’m confident that the tools, resources, and support at Kendal College will help me achieve that. I would confidently assure you that doing what ‘feels right’ is likely to be right. My non-standard educational pathway has not put me at any disadvantage compared to my peers. In fact, I’d say I’m in a stronger place now than I was three years ago. I’d be happy to discuss the business department, the different qualifications, or generally anything that you might want to know about Kendal College.
