The prime role of the individual is to provide direct support to fee earners to enable them to operate at optimum efficiency. This includes but is not limited to the primary responsibilities given below. The individual is expected to use a high degree of self-management and initiative.

What will the apprentice be doing?
- Prepare correspondence and documents through audio typing and word processing.
- Administer filing, which will include daily filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files per the office manual's detailed procedures.
- Prepare mail and enclosures for dispatch.
- Arrange for all copying to be done.
- Make appointments, arrange meetings and maintain an up-to-date diary for fee earners.
- Prepare the conference room for meetings as necessary and for tidying and clearance at the end of the session.
- Provide refreshments for clients when asked to do so.
- Provide support to other administrative support individuals as required.
- Provide guidance to junior and temporary administration support individuals when required.
- Attend clients in person and on the telephone and provide such support in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the firm's standards for client care.
- Undertake any specific training when required and overall be responsible for self-development.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all the firm's and client's documentation and information.
- Provide cover for the reception as required.
- Arrange for the post to be available for collection/delivery at the end of each day.
- Answer and direct telephone calls to the firm to the relevant individual or take messages as necessary.
What training will the apprentice take, and what qualification will the apprentice get?
- Level 3 Business Administrator standard.
- Functional Skills, if required.
- Training through Kendal College and in the workplace.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Progress into full-time employment.
