You will join our team of 15 staff, in our busy family business. The position is accounts office based. General office duties will be required, which will include answering phones, database entries and assisting in the retail side. You should be able to communicate well and work within a team. Apprentice Assistant Bookkeeper/Accountant, with an emphasis on Accounts, joining our current Bookkeeper and with oversight from our part-time Management Accounts lady.

We are a busy, family run business, with two bases here on Lake Windermere and a satellite office in Whitehaven.

Your role will be to assist our Bookkeeper in all aspects of our business accounts and will include:

  • Learning about purchase/sales ledgers
  • Compiling sales invoices
  • Receiving purchase invoices and their entry into our Quickbooks system
  • Learning about cash, banking and credit card reconciliation
  • Compiling monthly accounts

You will have general office duties such as:

  • Filing
  • Answering the phone
  • Taking messages
  • Database entries and any other tasks involved with the day to day operation of the office

This is definitely an Accounts position, but you will also be required to occasionally help out, in the retail side of our business, this will facilitate learning about handling cash, credit cards and interaction with our clients. We are open 7 days a week, however your hours will fit around a standard Monday to Friday 9am-5pm week, we will offer up to 32 hours, in addition to your day at college, therefore Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9am -5pm. We also offer NEST Pension contributions and Cash Plan Health insurance as part of our package. You must be able to communicate well with others, be presentable and work well within a team. There is the potential for progression within our business and we will actively encourage you to complete your Accounts training at college.
