An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice with a deep passion for Animal Care to play a significant role in providing excellent support to the College’s nationally recognised Animal Rescue Centre.
Contract Term: 18 month (approx) Level 3 Animal Keeper Advanced Apprenticeship
Hours: 37 hours per week, including 1 day a week training
Salary: Age appropriate national minimum wage
Closing Date: 11/12/2019
The successful candidate will be dedicated, reliable and enthusiastic to assist our outstanding team in providing excellent care to animals and knowledgeable support to our teaching staff. This is a fast-paced, challenging role that will provide the successful Apprentice with an unmatched level of experience in Animal Care as well as an unmatched level of rewarding work in caring for a wide variety of animals.

To provide care for the animals within the Animal Care department and to share this experience with our learners. This includes implementing all procedures within the centre and contributing to out of hours’ care. You will work closely with other staff to achieve the best standards of care.
It is integral to the role that you enable our full time students to pick up the skills by coaching them to gain the skills needed to care for the animals

The Right Candidate will have:
English, Maths and Science at Level 2 (GCSE A* to C or equivalent)
Recent experience in relevant animal care
- Effective communication skills
- Good general knowledge of health and safety at work in the relevant vocational environment
- Ability to provide coaching and support to learners
- Strong current technical knowledge and skills in animal care
- Sound knowledge of animal requirements
- Motivation and enthusiasm for working with 14 to 19 year olds.
