Music & Music Technology

Our Music courses are designed to offer a broad introduction to the many aspects of the popular music industry with a strong emphasis on group work and developing performance skills. Students will be expected to take part in regular public performances at a range of local venues and events. The courses are aimed at students with a strong interest in music and they will be given the chance to explore their natural talent and test their creativity in a broad range of performing and production tasks. They will also learn how to rehearse, practice, perform, compose, and use music technology in a creative and inspiring way to prepare for progression to university and careers in the music business.

“I have been playing guitar for over 12 years now and it has always been my passion, so for me this course was a perfect way of pursuing it and was also a great stepping stone to higher education. Kendal College was the one which stood out to me, above the others, due to it providing great opportunities, facilities and equipment to all of its students, but more importantly very knowledgeable and inspiring tutors. The course has a good balance between both the practical and theoretical sides of music performance and technology, allowing the students to not only get a good amount of time practising and improving in a practical environment, but also gain a great deal of relevant knowledge to help them on their journey. The college provides you with great opportunities to experience performing and recording in professional environments, meet and work with other musicians, and also use the facilities, such as the rehearsal booths and the recording studio, outside scheduled curriculum hours. After college I plan on going to the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts to study music performance and song writing.”
