How to Produce your Own Music

Recording your own music has never been easier. This course will give you the essential skills to start recording your own, or someone else’s music, in a studio or home environment.

Over the 12-week course, you will be taught how to use recording software Studio One in our studio and on a personal computer. Using audio and MIDI tracks, you will record, mix and master your own chosen composition.

The aim is to finish the course with a well-produced music product for promotional or personal use.

You will also receive a Level 2 Award in Music Technology (QCF).

- Recording techniques, microphoning, levels, playback, etc.
- Using digital audio work stations (DAWs)
- Adding effects and EQ
- Mixing
- Mastering

There is no formal examination element to this course. You will be assessed via a portfolio of work produced throughout the course.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Being a songwriter is a plus when starting the course, but it is not essential. Someone looking to enter the world of studio engineering will get as much from this course as a singer/songwriter.
