The aim of this course is to offer an opportunity to employees and/or enthusiasts to pursue projects or update skills using our state-of-the-art engineering facilities, including CAD, CNC machines, CAM software and conventional lathes and mills.

This is project based in a supportive workshop environment rather than formal taught sessions.

There is the opportunity to complete the Edexcel BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Engineering alongside the project work.

Qualification Units:
There is one mandatory unit ‘Working Safely in Engineering’. Optional units include developing skills in:
- Making Engineering Components Using Hand Tools
- Using a Bench/Pedestal Drilling Machine
- Planning and Making a Machined Product
- Assembling Mechanical Components
- Joining Materials Using Welding
- Electronic Assembly
- Wiring Electrical Circuits and Components
- Routine Servicing of Mechanical Equipment
- Routine Servicing of an Electrical/Electronic System
and Starting Work in Engineering

The course is free but we ask for a contribution of 5 pounds per session towards materials if you are completing the qualification, or 10 pounds per session if you decide not to complete the qualification.
