The Access to Higher Education Diploma in Business is an excellent preparation for people who wish to study business at University level. This course is especially designed for mature students who do not have the necessary academic qualifications to apply for University but who wish to study at degree level in the future.
Business activities go on in just about every employment sector you can think of. This includes financial services, manufacturing and retail, and areas you may not immediately think of, such as local and national government, water and energy suppliers and charities.
People with business skills and knowledge are needed to make sure organisations run smoothly, efficiently and, for private companies, profitably. Good business skills can make the difference between success and failure.
This course is a full time programme, comprising usually of two days a week in college and indepenent study at home.
19+ students can apply for an Advanced Learning Loan to cover the course fees, which will be written off if you complete a degree.
This course will be part of a wider study programme, which may also include english & maths, work placement and additional studies.
How will I be assessed?
On successfully completing this course, candidates will have a wider understanding of the business world. There will be practical examples throughout the programme on how to implement the theatrical knowledge gained.
There will also be an opportunity to continue with Higher Education and study business management which can lead to a wide-range of degrees and career paths.
The Access course is designed for adults who want to progress to higher education, degree level courses, but do not have the necessary qualifications. You must be 19+ at the beginning of the course and be able to demonstrate that you are ready for study at this level.
You must hold English (GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent). As part of the application process, you will be offered an interview with the course tutor. Adult returners are particularly welcomed onto this programme.
