You will assist our chef in our busy kitchen preparing dinners and buffets and work alongside our front of house team in setting up tables, cleaning and serving customers. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to start their own business in the future to learn how a small business works.

The Olde Mill Bardsea is a pub and restaurant in Ulverston, Cumbria.
We are a family run business able to offer the successful candidate with a wide range of catering and hospitality knowledge and experience in a friendly environment.
We operate a function room and outside catering business, we cater for a variety of functions including weddings, christenings, birthday parties, funerals; serving a wide range of menus including buffets and dinners.
Duties to include:
- You will have the opportunity to develop skills in food preparation as well as learning front of house skills.
- You will assist our chef in our busy kitchen preparing dinners and buffets and work alongside our front of house team in setting up tables, cleaning and serving customers.
- Candidates will be expected to follow food hygiene rules and wear a uniform.
Requirements and Prospects:
A basic knowkegde of types of food would be beneficial.
Candidate needs to be pleasant and outgoing with good communication skills with all age groups, including staff and customers.
A greeting smile is also a winner!
Previous qualifications are not essential, but a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate would be advantageous.
Working week: Flexibility is required over 7 days a week, will including evening and weekend work.
Total hours per week: 30.00
Training to be provided: Hospitality Services Level 2
Apprenticeship level: Level 3 - Advanced Level Apprenticeship.
The Apprenticeship has a variety of routes for people working within the Hospitality Industry. The Apprentice Framework includes the Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery, Food and Beverage Service, Housekeeping, Hospitality Services or Front of Office which are competency based qualification.
The Diploma has a variety of mandatory units including Health, Safety and Security, Effective Working Relationships, Food Safety, and Customer Care. The learner then chooses from a selection of optional units relevant to their chosen route and workplace.
Part three of the framework includes Functional Skills in English and Maths are also part of the framework . (Previous qualification in English and Maths can form exemptions for the function skills).

Expected apprenticeship duration: 1 year.
If the candidate is enthusiastic at the end of the Apprenticeship and we have a suitable vacancy, a future position with ourselves will be considered.
If the candidate chooses to apply elsewhere they will leave with a good knowledge that will assist progression in the hospitality industry.
Hours of work:
30 hours per week.
